Prayer to the Venerable Cross

Use this prayer for personal protection against evil.
It is not a formal exorcism.

Kiss your Cross and make the sign of the Cross wherever you may be while saying the prayer below.

ET GOD arise and let His enemies be scattered, and let them that hate Him flee from before His face. As smoke vanishes, so let them vanish; as wax melts before the fire, so let the demons perish from the presence of them that love God and who sign themselves with the sign of the Cross and say in gladness: Rejoice, most venerable and life-giving Cross of the Lord, for Thou drive away the demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ Who was crucified on Thee, Who went down to hell and trampled on the power of the devil, and gave us Thee, His venerable Cross, for the driving away of every adversary. O most venerable and life-giving Cross of the Lord, help me together with our most pure Lady, the Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary, and with all the saints, unto the ages. Amen.

Adapted from a traditional Russian Orthodox prayer.

The Cross will protect you when you stop wearing it around your neck like a piece of jewelry and start carrying it in your heart.
