Audio Recordings of Latin Prayers

The Sign of the Cross | The Gloria Patri | The Lord’s Prayer | Ave Maria | The Apostles’ Creed | Anima Christi | The Magnificat | Alma Redemptoris | Ave Regina Coelorum | Regina Coeli | Salve Regina

I know of only one other website on the Internet that offers free audio recordings of Latin Catholic prayers, and I made that website myself as one of my charitable donations. Now, for my own website, here, I have re-recorded these prayers. And, yes, it’s my own voice.

These are
.wav  files, so they should open on any computer without special software.

I have made these recordings for their teaching value. Aside from my inevitable American accent, I try to speak simply and clearly, so that you can discern each syllable. Nothing is worse than trying to imitate a language when a speaker’s heavy accent overshadows the basic linguistic sounds. After you learn the basic sounds, you can add your own accent as you prefer.

IF YOU FIND THESE RECORDINGS HELPFUL, PLEASE SEND A FREEWILL OFFERING IN GRATITUDE FOR THE BENEFITS YOU HAVE RECEIVED.

Huh? Donations? Freewill website?
What’s this about?

You may download these files for personal use only! These files are copyrighted; copying them or distributing them or linking to them from outside this webpage is forbidden. Distributing them or selling them without my authorization is theft—it’s not just a crime, it’s a flagrant MORTAL SIN!

N.B. The accent marks in the texts tell where to place the stress in words of three or more syllables. The marks are a convention developed by the Church, not an integral part of the Latin language itself.

PATER noster, qui es in coelis,

Panem nostrum quotidiánum
  da nobis hódie.
Et dimítte nobis débita nostra,
  sicut et nos dimíttimus
  debitóribus nostris.
Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem:
sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

CREDO in Deum,
Patrem omnipoténtem,
Creatórem cœli et terræ.
Et in Jesum Christum,
Fílium ejus únicum,
Dóminum nostrum;

de Spíritu Sancto;
natus ex María Vírgine;
passus sub Póntio Piláto,
crucifíxus, mórtuus,
et sepúltus:
Descéndit ad inféros;
tértia die
resurréxit a mórtuis:
ascéndit ad cœlos,
sedet ad déxteram
Dei Patris omnipoténtis;
inde ventúrus est
judicáre vivos et mórtuos.

THE MAGNIFICAT

MAGNIFICAT ánima mea Dóminum:

Et exultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salutári meo.

Esuriéntes implévit bonis;
et dívites dimísit inánes.

Suscépit Israël púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ suæ.

Sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Abraham et sémini eius in saécula.
